Crash Course in Awesome

So I felt like doing a poster and wanted try out a new style while in the process. I limited myself to a few colors and tried to just use hard angles. I learned a lot from this and am looking forward to doing the next one!

Sooo about the poster, this is 2 of my friends Bry and Ricky's podcast Crash Course in Awesome, and well, it's pretty awesome ;) each week they pick a topic and give you a quick crash course in it! It's a great listen as they cover a variety of topics from movies, to scifi, to cryptozoology, to survival guides! EVERYTHING!  If ya can, take a listen!  They're on iTunes or you can find them here Crash Course in Awesome

Cottage Crew 2012

Well summer has come to an end and fall is right around the corner. I like fall though not to hot and not to cold, just right :) So this is another gang group shot of some inside jokes that have taken place over the years at the family cottage. I tried out a different style on this one and different approach to the background as well. I had fun doing this so I hope the people in this enjoy it and get a laugh :) I wasn't sure which treatment I liked better, the old vintage photo or just the regular finish?

Places

So here are a few backgrounds I did for my very special lady friend's birthday this week. They're of a few places we've been the last couple of years. I plan on doing more, but this is all I could get done in the week. The originals are 11X17 and I got them printed off to hang around our place. My inspiration for these pieces were 2 of my favorite artist Tadahiro Uesugi and Kevin Dart. I'm really trying to understand their methods and use of colors, lines and textures. What to leave in and out for the eye to determine what its seeing. Anyway I had a lot of fun doing these and can't wait to do more.

Enjoy

Searching for a logo

I' ve never really been good/understood  logo design so it's been extremely hard to come up with something. I've been using like a watermark with my name on my current art, but am really striving for something more iconic. Something simple, something that represents me and my art.

This is my first attempt at a logo for myself. I liked it at first but once I shrunk it down it was extremely hard to read and didn't really stand out.

PTBO 5

I did this a while ago as a concept for a music video I wanted to do about my summer in Peterborough Ontario. I interned at a studio there and just had a blast that summer. Anyway these fine folks were my roommates and this was the taken from a photo we took a couple years after graduation...

"Watch out for these guys"

I had a lot of fun doing these, I just wanted to stay simple so tried to use a circle for pretty much every head. I had originally played around with different head shapes but felt it wasn t staying true to staying simple.
